Campers will explore the cutting-edge world of robotics, using Micro:bit to program interactive gadgets and sensors and LEGO to engineer functional robots. Along the way, they'll tackle unique engineering challenges as they create robotic arms, smart vehicles, and automated contraptions.  Competitions inspire creativity while fostering teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Each week’s unique theme keeps learning fresh, allowing campers to find creative solutions to a host of new engineering challenges.

Add big camp games and new friendships, and you have a recipe for a summer packed with excitement, discovery, and fun. It all culminates in a showcase where creativity and engineering skills shine brightly!

  • About Robotics & Engineering Lab with LEGO & Micro:bit

    This camp combines robotics, coding, and engineering to teach problem-solving and innovation. Campers will learn to program with Micro:bit and build complex machines with LEGO, developing skills in sensors, motors, and circuitry. Weekly themes bring fresh challenges, encouraging campers to return for new experiences. By week’s end, they’ll have mastered robotics concepts and built confidence in their engineering abilities.

    Campers will learn fundamental concepts of robotics, including how to build and program machines using LEGO and Micro:bit. Through hands-on projects, they’ll explore how coding, sensors, and circuits work together to create interactive and functional robots.

  • Develop Engineering and Problem-Solving Skills

    Participants will tackle dynamic challenges like designing robotic arms or vehicles, emphasizing critical thinking and iterative design. By testing and improving their creations, they’ll strengthen their ability to analyze problems and develop innovative solutions.

Monday: Robotics Basics

Get ready to meet the robots! Campers will kick off the week by learning the fundamentals of programming and engineering. Using LEGO and Micro:bit, they’ll build their first simple machines and see how coding brings their creations to life. From programming movements to testing basic tasks, it’s a hands-on introduction that sets the stage for an epic robotics adventure!

Tuesday: Gadget Innovations

Time to level up! Campers will dive into the world of sensors and circuits, experimenting with tools that can detect motion, light, or even touch. They’ll use this knowledge to create smart devices that perform cool, interactive functions. Think robots that light up, react to movement, or follow a path—it’s a day packed with discovery and creativity!

Wednesday: Engineering Explorers

Brace yourself for dynamic design challenges! Campers will push their engineering skills to new heights as they build and test exciting projects like robotic arms, vehicles, or other moving contraptions. With every iteration, they’ll refine their creations, transforming raw ideas into functional, innovative robots ready to tackle any obstacle!

Thursday: Team Robotics Challenges

Teamwork makes the dream work! Campers will collaborate in groups to take on large-scale robotics challenges. From coding intricate sequences to constructing complex systems, this day is all about sharing ideas, solving problems together, and creating something truly extraordinary as a team. The results? Bigger, better, and smarter machines!

Friday: Innovation Showcase

It’s showtime! Campers will present their robotic creations to an audience of family and friends, explaining how they were designed, coded, and built. Whether it’s demonstrating a gadget in action or walking through a robot’s unique features, the showcase is a proud celebration of creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Get ready to be amazed by what these young engineers have accomplished!

Course Format

This course is part of a weeklong summer camp running Monday through Friday. Your child will learn in a small group setting on an inspiring university campus from an experienced instructor. An exciting daily schedule balances learning and exploration of this topic with a variety of outdoor and recreational activities within the larger camp setting. Lunch and aftercare options are available based on location.
