Using Unruly Splats, campers turn coding into a physically active challenge, programming and then stomping their way through custom games. With Scratch, they’ll design interactive projects, blending game logic with playful collaboration.

Every week’s unique theme ensures a new adventure, keeping kids' energy high.

About Jr. Coding with Splats + Scratch
This camp blends physical activity and technology to teach foundational coding skills. Campers will use Unruly Splats to merge coding with movement, fostering creativity and computational thinking. Scratch introduces them to game design, helping them build interactive stories they can share with others. Weekly themes inspire fresh challenges, while teamwork builds resilience and collaboration. By week’s end, campers leave with newfound skills and endless enthusiasm for STEM!

Learning Outcomes

Comprehensive Understanding of Diverse Coding Concepts
Students will gain a broad understanding of various coding topics, ranging from ordered lists to conditionals. They will engage in activities and projects that bring to life the wonders of designing stomp-based games, fostering curiosity and a deeper appreciation for different coding topics through hands-on exploration.
Development of Game Engineering and Design Thinking Skills
Students will apply coding principles and design thinking through practical challenges and stomp-based adventures. They will learn to conceptualize, plan, and create projects that embody their understanding of coding concepts, emphasizing creative problem-solving and innovation.

Here’s a sample of what a week in this camp could look like. Keep in mind, our experienced instructors will build the camp that is right for your student, and this outline demonstrates some of the key materials and the overall camp experience.

Monday: Splats and Steps

Dive into Unruly Splats and create your first stomp-activated game.

Tuesday: Race and React

Design and program relay races using Unruly Splats, building teamwork and coding skills while staying active.

Wednesday: Beat the Sequence

Explore the power of loops and patterns by creating rhythm-based games that challenge memory and quick thinking.

Thursday: Splats Olympics

Collaborate to code and play multi-sport challenges, combining coding concepts with real-world problem-solving.

Friday: Game-Makers Showcase

End the camp by programming custom games and sharing creations in a camp-wide interactive play session.

Course Format

This course is part of a weeklong summer camp running Monday through Friday. Your child will learn in a small group setting on an inspiring university campus from an experienced instructor. An exciting daily schedule balances learning and exploration of this topic with a variety of outdoor and recreational activities within the larger camp setting. Lunch and aftercare options are available based on location.
