They’ll hone improvisational skills to create and apply basic coding skills to program their own music, just like how music engineers create the beats behind your favorite hits. Using Unruly Splats, students will create musical patterns and sequences, effectively turning the classroom into an interactive musical playground.

  • About Unruly Music Kids: A Mix of Music Making and Splat Fun

    In this hands-on course, students will explore the intersection of music, technology, and coding using Unruly Splats. These programmable floor buttons light up and make sounds, allowing students to play active games and create music through block-based coding. They will be introduced to music theory basics like notes, rhythm, and tempo through engaging Splats games. Students will participate in musical improvisation activities, learning how to integrate technology with music and gain coding skills to create their own musical compositions. No coding experience is needed to join.

    Music Improvisation Lab: In the Music Improvisation Lab, students will engage in creative activities that encourage spontaneous musical expression using Unruly Splats. They will explore rhythm and melody through hands-on improvisation, enhancing their ability to create and perform unique musical patterns on the fly.

    Music Engineering Lab: The Music Engineering Lab combines music theory with technology, teaching students to use block-based coding to program their own musical compositions. Students will learn to integrate coding concepts such as sequences, loops, and conditional logic with musical elements, creating interactive and dynamic musical pieces.
