Robotics with Dash Robots

Robotics with Dash Robots

  • For Grades 2 - 3

Embark on a journey of coding and creativity with Dash Robots!

Turning craft supplies into immersive worlds, students weave tales of challenge and exploration as they build a map for Dash to navigate through a story of their creation. Then, using three unique coding platforms, campers will explore programming in exciting new ways as they code Dash through the adventure map they have built.

Each week’s themed adventure sparks curiosity and collaboration while introducing campers to robotics.

With active sports, big camp games, and unforgettable friendships, this camp delivers excitement at every turn. Families are invited to marvel at these young engineers’ creations during an end-of-week showcase!

  • About Robotics with Dash Robots

In this camp, students dive into robotics engineering with the Dash Robot. The adventure starts with a narrative-based challenge and building an environment for their Dash robot to navigate. Students will then move to programming Wonder robots to achieve various objectives and solve challenges. Throughout the camp, students will tackle narrative-based challenges, sharpening their critical thinking and problem-solving skills while building confidence and enhancing technological proficiency.

  • Topics Covered

    • Explore algorithms and coding in the Path App.
    • Practice design thinking and build environments for Dash to navigate.
    • Discover engineering principles and outfit Dash to solve challenges.
    • Build narrative adventures for Dash to complete.

  • Engineering and Technology Proficiency

Students will acquire foundational skills in robotics engineering by building and programming Wonder robots. This includes understanding robotic design basics, programming movements, and responses and applying these skills to solve narrative-based challenges.

  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills

Students will enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities through hands-on challenges with Wonder robots. They will learn to approach problems systematically, think creatively to find solutions, and adapt to various scenarios.

  • Physical Development and Team Collaboration

Students will participate in various sports to develop physical coordination, fitness, and social skills like teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship. This holistic approach supports physical education and social-emotional learning, balancing technological skills with physical and cooperative play.

Sample Schedule

Here’s a sample of what a week in this course could look like. Remember, our experienced instructors will build the right camp for your student, and this outline demonstrates some of the key materials and the overall camp experience.

Collapsible content

Monday: Explore Algorithms & Meet Dash

Students will discover how Dash operates through coding in the Path App and explore the concepts of algorithms and design thinking.

Tuesday: Narrative Adventures with Dash

Engaging in hands-on fun with Dash, students will experience a full design cycle from hearing a story-based challenge to building an environment that matches the story to coding Dash to overcome the challenges of the adventure and achieve the quest-like objectives.

Wednesday: Path App and Go App with Dash

Leveraging the coding knowledge and design thinking students have gathered in the first two days of camp, they will continue with narrative challenges, trying both the Path and Go Apps for coding.

Thursday: Build Your Own Adventure

Armed with coding knowledge, robot design strategies, and creativity, students will begin to build their own narrative adventures and challenges, leading each other through fun storylines with Dash.

Friday: Final Adventure and Showcase

All of the weeks accomplishments will be celebrated today as students have fun with some competitive Dash challenges and build a final narrative adventure to showcase their week’s accomplishments.

Course Format

This course is part of a weeklong summer camp running Monday through Friday. Your child will learn in a small group setting on an inspiring university campus from an experienced instructor. An exciting daily schedule balances learning and exploration of this topic with a variety of outdoor and recreational activities within the larger camp setting. Lunch and aftercare options are available based on location

Our Instructors Are Our Top Asset

At BAM!, our vision for innovative K-8 education extends beyond just curriculum; it encompasses the educators who bring that curriculum to life. Selecting & training our educators is a continuous and meticulous process, ensuring they are not just equipped with subject matter expertise but also the skills to inspire and connect with students on a personal level.

  • 100% adult educators recruited from prestigious universities ( No CITs at BAM!)
  • Highly refined interview and background check process
  • Extensive training that goes well beyond curriculum & classroom management
  • Ongoing year-round opportunities to teach in our summer camp. After-school, and structured recess programs.

We celebrate your success!

Upon the conclusion of your child's program, they will be presented with an official Brains & Motion Education certification.
