Sports SAMPLE SCHEDULE
Warm-Up / Coordination:
We begin each session with a dynamic warm-up designed to prepare the body for activity while enhancing coordination and agility. This initial phase helps prevent injuries and sets a positive tone for the class.
Technical Games 1 & 2:
Following the warm-up, students engage in two technical games focusing on developing specific basketball skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending. These games are fun yet challenging, tailored to improve individual technique and game understanding.
Character Development:
Central to our curriculum is the character development segment, where we integrate key life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and respect. Through interactive discussions and role-playing, students learn to embody the values that make great athletes and individuals.
Scrimmage:
Students then apply their skills and character lessons in a scrimmage setting, which simulates real-game situations. This is where they can experiment with strategies learned and enjoy healthy competition among peers.
Debrief:
Each session concludes with a debriefing period where students reflect on their performance, receive feedback, and discuss lessons learned. This critical reflection helps solidify the day's learning and sets the stage for future improvement.
STEM SAMPLE SCHEDULE
Introduction - (5 minutes)
A brief overview of the topic and project contained in the lesson.
Objectives - (5 minutes)
Three learning goals that students will review and then discuss at the end of the lesson to ensure mastery of the objectives.
Ice Breaker - (5 minutes)
The BAM Product Team is working hard to add icebreaker activities to all lessons. If you have a curriculum that does not have icebreaker activities, please add them into the start of your class. They can be anything from a silly game to a question
everyone gets to answer like “What is your
favorite ice cream flavor?”.
Teaching Topic - (30 minutes)
This is a learning activity that should take 15 to 45 minutes depending on the topic, age of the students, and engagement level. YOUR enthusiasm is what will drive student
engagement!
Main Project - (30 minutes)
The project is designed to provide students with a hands-on experience of the teaching topic for that day. Ensure that students are engaged and not rushing through the project work. Challenge students to each small step of the project and focus on tasks throughout the process with show & tell stops along the way.
Perform / Show & Tell - (10 minutes)
After the project has been completed, students will have an opportunity to share their work with peers and receive positive and constructive feedback. It is VERY important that you model both types of feedback for students to practice.
Debrief - (5 minutes)
These 3-5 questions will help students wrap up their experience with the lesson and practice verbalizing their mastery of the learning content.
Bonus Projects - (30 minutes)
Almost every lesson in our STEAM curriculum has one or two bonus projects. These are literacy and hands on extensions of the main project that allow students to engage creatively with the content
in additional ways. If your curriculum has not been updated with bonus projects, please feel free to add in experiences like “create a poster of what you built" or movement based games that are related in some way to the project work.
