BAM's Tennis Program is meticulously aligned with SHAPE America’s National Standards for K-12 Physical Education. This program is designed to foster physical literacy by engaging students in tennis activities that promote the development of motor skills, physical fitness, and a lifelong love of the sport.
Each lesson is structured to meet specific standards, ensuring students not only participate in tennis drills and matches but also understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Through active play and structured sessions, BAM's Tennis Program encourages students to demonstrate competence in tennis skills, apply knowledge of movement concepts, and exhibit responsible personal and social behavior, fully embracing SHAPE America's vision of empowering students to lead healthy, active lives. -
Focus Areas
Each week, students will delve into different aspects of tennis, starting with racket handling and ball control, practicing techniques like forehand and backhand strokes to improve precision and agility.
Serving and teamwork will be key focuses, with drills such as short serves, long serves, and rallying to enhance accuracy and coordination. Volleying techniques, including drop shots, lobs, and smashes, will boost net play proficiency.
Footwork and positioning skills will be developed through agility drills and strategic movement exercises. This rotating skill set approach ensures students gain a well-rounded understanding of tennis, promoting continuous improvement and a deeper love for the game.
