Our coaches lead an action-packed journey through basketball essentials, covering shooting, dribbling, passing, lay-ups, defense, and rebounding. Designed for enthusiasts of all skill levels, this course emphasizes mastering the fundamentals through engaging drills, innovative games, and spirited competitions. Grouping kids by skill ensures personalized growth and learning. From beginners to budding stars, students will refine their basketball abilities, foster teamwork, and build confidence on and off the court.

    BAM's Basketball Program is meticulously aligned with SHAPE America’s National Standards for K-12 Physical Education. This program is designed to foster physical literacy by engaging students in basketball activities that promote the development of motor skills, physical fitness, and a lifelong love of the sport.

    Each lesson is structured to meet specific standards, ensuring students not only participate in basketball drills and games but also understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

    Through active play and structured sessions, BAM's Basketball Program encourages students to demonstrate competence in basketball skills, apply knowledge of movement concepts, and exhibit responsible personal and social behavior, fully embracing SHAPE America's vision of empowering students to lead healthy, active lives.

  • Focus Areas

    Each week, students will delve into different aspects of the game, starting with dribbling and ball handling, where they'll practice techniques like crossover dribbles and figure-eight drills to improve control and agility.

    Passing and teamwork abilities to shooting techniques will also be a key focus, with students practicing layups, free throws, and three-point shots to boost their scoring proficiency.

    Defensive skills and footwork will be developed through exercises like defensive stance drills and slide movements, helping students improve their ability to guard opponents.

    This rotating skill set approach ensures that students gain a well-rounded understanding of basketball, promoting continuous improvement and a deeper love for the game.

Perfecting the Chest Pass: Passing and Teamwork

Students will delve into the fundamentals of the chest pass, learning to deliver accurate and powerful passes to teammates. This lesson emphasizes teamwork and communication, with drills designed to simulate real-game situations and improve passing accuracy.

Sharpening Layup Techniques: Shooting Skills

In this session, students will practice various layup techniques, from basic right-handed layups to more advanced moves like reverse layups. By focusing on proper form and footwork, they'll enhance their scoring ability and confidence near the basket.

Building Defensive Strength: Stance and Footwork

This lesson centers on defensive skills, teaching students the importance of a solid defensive stance and effective footwork. Through slide drills and one-on-one defensive exercises, they'll learn to guard opponents effectively and reduce scoring opportunities.

Free Throw Precision: Shooting Under Pressure

Students will concentrate on perfecting their free throw shooting, focusing on techniques to maintain composure and accuracy under pressure. This lesson includes drills to develop consistency and confidence at the free-throw line, turning them into reliable scorers in critical game moments.

BAM's Sports Programming is designed to align with SHAPE America's National Standards for K-12 Physical Education, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging approach to physical education. Each lesson follows a structured format that includes a Warm-up, Technical Drills, Reinforcing Game, and Scrimmages, providing a well-rounded experience that promotes skill development, fitness, and fun.

Warm-up: Each session begins with a dynamic warm-up to prepare students' bodies for physical activity, enhancing flexibility, and reducing the risk of injury.

Technical Drills: Students then move on to technical drills, focusing on the fundamental skills required for each sport. These drills are designed to improve motor skills, coordination, and technique, providing a solid foundation for game play.

Reinforcing Game: Following the drills, students participate in a reinforcing game that allows them to apply their newly acquired skills in a fun and supportive environment. This segment emphasizes teamwork, strategic thinking, and practical application of skills.
